Preparation.
Psalm 24: 1-6
The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it, the
world, and all who live in it;
for He founded it upon the seas and established it upon
the waters.
Who may ascend the hill of the LORD?
Who may stand in his holy place?
He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not
lift up his soul to an idol or swear by what is false.
He will receive blessing from the LORD and vindication
from God his Savoir.
Such is the generation of those who seek him, who seek
your face, O God of Jacob.
Proclamations
Psalm 24:7-10
Lift up your heads, O you gates; be lifted up, you
ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in.
Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty,
the LORD mighty in battle.
Lift up your heads, O you gates; lift them up, you
ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in.
Who is he, this King of glory? The LORD Almighty - He is
the King of glory.
1 Peter 5:6-11
Therefore we humble ourselves under the mighty hand of
God, that He may exalt us in due time,
Having cast all our care upon Him, for He cares for us.
We
are sober, we are vigilant; because our adversary the
devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he
may devour.
We
resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the
same sufferings are experienced by our brotherhood in
the world.
But
the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory
by Christ Jesus, after we have suffered a while, will
perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle us.
To
Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever.
Amen
Deut
33:25-27 NIV
The
bolts of our gates will be iron and
bronze and our strength will equal our
days.
There is no one like the God of Jeshurun,
who
rides on the heavens to help us and
on
the clouds in His majesty.
The
eternal God is our refuge, and
underneath are the everlasting arms.
He
will drive out our enemy before us,
saying, "Destroy him!"
He
is our shield and helper and our glorious sword.
Our
enemies will cower before us and we will trample down
their high place
Psalm 33:8-12
Let
all the earth fear the Lord,
Let
all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him.
For
he spoke, and it was done;
He
commanded, and it stood fast.
The
Lord brings the counsel of the nations to nothing;
He
makes the plans of the peoples of no effect.
The
counsel of the Lord stands for ever,
The
plans of His heart to all generations.
Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord,
And
the people whom He has chosen as His own inheritance.
Daniel 2:20-22, 4:34b-35
Blessed be the name of God forever and ever;
For
wisdom and might are His.
And
He changes the times and the seasons;
He
removes kings and raises up kings;
He
gives wisdom to the wise
And
knowledge to those who have understanding.
He
reveals deep and secret things;
He
knows what is in the darknes,
And
the light dwells with Him. . . .
For
His dominion is an everlasting dominion,
And
His kingdom is from generation to generation.
All
the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing;
He
does according to His will in the army of heaven
And
among the inhabitants of the earth
No
one can restrain His hand
Or
say to Him, "What have You done?"
2
Chronicles 14:11
Lord, there is no one like You to help the powerless
against the mighty.
Help
us, O Lord our God, for we rely on You, and in Your name
we have come against this vast army.
O
Lord, You are our God; do not let man prevail against
you.
2 Chronicles 20:6
O
Lord, God of our fathers, are You not the God who is in
heaven?
You
rule over all the kingdoms of the nations.
Power and might are in Your hand, and no one can
withstand You.
Psalm 140 : 6 & 7
O
Lord, I say to you "You are my God,
Hear
O God my cry for mercy,
O
Sovereign Lord, my strong deliverer
who shields my head in the day of battle –
do not grant the wicked their desires O
Lord, do not let their plans succeed, or
they will become proud.
ATTACKING SCRIPTURES
Isaiah 44:24-26A
"This is what the LORD says-- your Redeemer, who formed
you in the womb:
I am the LORD, who has made all things, who alone
stretched out the heavens, who spread out the earth by
myself,
who foils the signs of false prophets and makes fools of
diviners, who overthrows the learning of the wise and
turns it into nonsense,
who carries out the words of his servants and fulfils
the predictions of his messengers
Isaiah: 28:15-19
You boast, "We have entered into a covenant with death,
with the grave we have made an agreement.
When an overwhelming scourge sweeps by, it cannot touch
us, for we have made a lie our refuge and falsehood our
hiding place."
So this is what the Sovereign LORD says:
"See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious
cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one who trusts
will never be dismayed.
I will make justice the measuring line and righteousness
the plumb line;
hail will sweep away your refuge, the lie, and water
will overflow your hiding place.
Your covenant with death will be annulled; your
agreement with the grave will not stand.
When the overwhelming scourge sweeps by, you will be
beaten down by it.
As often as it comes it will carry you away; morning
after morning, by day and by night, it will sweep
through." The understanding of this message will bring
sheer terror.
Isaiah 8:9&10
Raise the war cry, you nations, and be shattered!
Listen, all you distant lands. Prepare for battle, and
be shattered!
Prepare for battle, and be shattered!
Devise your strategy, but it will be thwarted;
propose your plan, but it will not stand,
for God is with us.
Isaiah 14:20b-27
The offspring of the wicked will never be mentioned
again.
Prepare a place to slaughter
his sons for the sins of their forefathers; they are not
to rise to inherit the land and cover the earth with
their cities.
"I will rise up against them," declares the LORD
Almighty. "I will cut off from Babylon her name and
survivors, her offspring and descendants," declares the
LORD.
"I will turn her into a place for owls and into
swampland; I will sweep her with the broom of
destruction," declares the LORD Almighty.
The LORD Almighty has sworn, "Surely, as I have planned,
so it will be, and as I have purposed, so it will stand.
I will crush the Assyrian in my land; on my mountains I
will trample him down. His yoke will be taken from my
people, and his burden removed from their shoulders."
This is the plan determined for the whole world; this is
the hand stretched out over all nations.
For the LORD Almighty has purposed, and who can thwart
him? His hand is stretched out, and who can turn it
back?
Isaiah 46 to end
"Remember this, fix it in mind, take it to heart, you
rebels.
Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God,
and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like
me.
I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient
times, what is still to come. I say: My purpose will
stand, and I will do all that I please.
From the east I summon a bird of prey; from a far-off
land, a man to fulfil my purpose. What I have said, that
will I bring about; what I have planned, that will I do.
Listen to me, you stubborn-hearted, you who are far from
righteousness.
I am bringing my righteousness near, it is not far away;
and my salvation will not be delayed. I will grant
salvation to Zion, my splendour to Israel.
Isaiah 47:5 and 7-11
"Sit in silence, go into darkness, Daughter of the
Babylonians; no more will you be called queen of
kingdoms.
You said, 'I will continue forever-- the eternal queen!'
But you did not consider these things or reflect on what
might happen.
"Now then, listen, you wanton creature, lounging in your
security and saying to yourself, 'I am, and there is
none besides me. I will never be a widow or suffer the
loss of children.'
Both of these will overtake you in a moment, on a single
day: loss of children and widowhood.
They will come upon you in full measure, in spite of
your many sorceries and all your potent spells.
You have trusted in your wickedness and have said, 'No
one sees me.'
Your wisdom and knowledge mislead you when you say to
yourself, 'I am, and there is none besides me.'
Disaster will come upon you, and you will not know how
to conjure it away.
A calamity will fall upon you that you cannot ward off
with a ransom; a catastrophe you cannot foresee will
suddenly come upon you.
Ezekiel 13:20-23
'Therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: I am
against your magic charms with which you ensnare people
like birds and I will tear them from your arms; I will
set free the people that you ensnare like birds.
I will tear off your veils and save my people from your
hands, and they will no longer fall prey to your power.
Then you will know that I am the LORD.
Because you disheartened the righteous with your lies,
when I had brought them no grief, and because you
encouraged the wicked not to turn from their evil ways
and so save their lives,
therefore you will no longer see false visions or
practice divination. I will save my people from your
hands. And then you will know that I am the LORD.'"
Jeremiah 7:2-11
"'Hear the word of the LORD, all you people of Judah who
come through these gates to worship the LORD.
This is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says:
Reform your ways and your actions, and I will let you
live in this place.
Do not trust in deceptive words and say, "This is the
temple of the LORD, the temple of the LORD, the temple
of the LORD!"
If you really change your ways and your actions and deal
with each other justly,
if you do not oppress the alien, the fatherless or the
widow and do not shed innocent blood in this place, and
if you do not follow other gods to your own harm,
then I will let you live in this place, in the land I
gave your forefathers for ever and ever.
But look, you are trusting in deceptive words that are
worthless.
"'Will you steal and murder, commit adultery and
perjury, burn incense to Baal and follow other gods you
have not known,
and then come and stand before me in this house, which
bears my Name, and say, "We are safe"--safe to do all
these detestable things?
Has this house, which bears my Name, become a den of
robbers to you? But I have been watching! declares the
LORD.
Rev 18:2-8
"Fallen! Fallen is Babylon the Great! She has become a
home for demons and a haunt for every evil spirit, a
haunt for every unclean and detestable bird.
For all the nations have drunk the maddening wine of her
adulteries. The kings of the earth committed adultery
with her, and the merchants of the earth grew rich from
her excessive luxuries."
"Come out of her, my people, (4 times) so that you will
not share in her sins, so that you will not receive any
of her plagues;
for her sins are piled up to heaven, and God has
remembered her crimes.
Give back to her as she has given; pay her back double
for what she has done. Mix her a double portion from her
own cup.
Give her as much torture and grief as the glory and
luxury she gave herself. In her heart she boasts, 'I sit
as queen; I am not a widow, and I will never mourn.'
Therefore in one day her plagues will overtake her:
death, mourning and famine. She will be consumed by
fire, for mighty is the Lord God who judges her.
Rev 18:10b
"'Woe! Woe, O great city, O Babylon, city of power! In
one hour your doom has come!'
Rev:18:16
"'Woe! Woe, O great city, dressed in fine linen, purple
and scarlet, and glittering with gold, precious stones
and pearls!
In one hour such great wealth has been brought to ruin!'
Rev 18:19b-20
“Woe! Woe! O great city, where all who
had ships on the sea became rich through her wealth! In
one hour she has been brought to ruin!
Rejoice over her, O heaven! Rejoice, saints and apostles
and prophets! God has judged her for the way she treated
you.'"
Psalms 125:3
The sceptre of the wicked will not remain over the land
allotted to the righteous (3 times)
Isaiah 45:8
"You heavens above, rain down righteousness;
let the clouds shower it down.
Let the earth open wide,
let salvation spring up,
let righteousness grow with it;
I, the LORD, have created it.
SCRIPTURES ON BEHALF OF ISRAEL
Joel
3:1-11
"In
those days and at that time, when I restore the
fortunes of Judah and Jerusalem, I will gather all
nations and bring them down to the Valley of
Jehoshaphat. There I will enter into judgment against
them concerning my inheritance, my people Israel, for
they scattered my people among the nations and divided
up my land. They cast lots for my people and traded
boys for prostitutes; they sold girls for wine that they
might drink.
"Now
what have you against me, O Tyre and Sidon and all you
regions of Philistia? Are you repaying me for something
I have done? If you are paying me back, I will swiftly
and speedily return on your own heads what you have
done.
For
you took my silver and my gold and carried off my finest
treasures to your temples.
You
sold the people of Judah and Jerusalem to the Greeks,
that you might send them far from their homeland. "See,
I am going to rouse them out of the places to which you
sold them, and I will return on your own heads what you
have done. I will sell your sons and daughters to the
people of Judah, and they will sell them to the Sabeans,
a nation far away." The
Lord has
spoken.
Proclaim this among the nations: Prepare for war! Rouse
the warriors! Let all the fighting men draw near and
attack. Beat your ploughshares into swords and your
pruning hooks into spears. Let the weakling say, "I am
strong!" Come quickly, all you nations from every side,
and assemble there.
Amos
1:7 & 8
I
will send fire upon the walls of Gaza that will consume
her fortresses. I will destroy the king of
Ashdod and the one who holds the sceptre in Ashkelon. I
will turn my hand against Ekron, till the last of the
Philistines is dead," says the Sovereign Lord.
Zephaniah 2:4-7-11
Gaza
will be abandoned and Ashkelon left in ruins. At midday
Ashdod will be emptied and Ekron uprooted.
It
will belong to the remnant of the house of Judah; there
they will find pasture. In the evening they will lie
down in the houses of Ashkelon. The
Lord their
God will care for them; he will restore their fortunes.
"I
have heard the insults of Moab and the taunts of the
Ammonites, who insulted my people and made threats
against their land. Therefore, as surely as I live,"
declares the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, "surely
Moab will become like Sodom, the Ammonites like
Gomorrah— a place of weeds and salt pits, a wasteland
for ever. The remnant of my people will plunder them;
the survivors of my nation will inherit their
land." This is what they will get in return for their
pride, for insulting and mocking the people of the
Lord
Almighty. The
Lord will be awesome to them when he destroys all
the gods of the land. The nations on every shore will
worship him, every one in its own land.
Zechariah 12:2 – 13:2
"I
am going to make Jerusalem a cup that sends all the
surrounding peoples reeling. Judah will be besieged as
well as Jerusalem. On that day, when all the nations of
the earth are gathered against her, I will make
Jerusalem an immovable rock for all the nations. All who
try to move it will injure themselves.
On
that day I will strike every horse with panic and its
rider with madness," declares the Lord. "I will keep a
watchful eye over the house of Judah, but I will blind
all the horses of the nations. Then the leaders of Judah
will say in their hearts, 'The people of Jerusalem are
strong, because the
Lord
Almighty is their God.'
"On
that day I will make the leaders of Judah like a brazier
in a woodpile, like a flaming torch among sheaves. They
will consume right and left all the surrounding peoples,
but Jerusalem will remain intact in her place. "The
Lord will
save the dwellings of Judah first, so that the honour of
the house of David and of Jerusalem's inhabitants may
not be greater than that of Judah.
On
that day the Lord
will shield those who live in Jerusalem, so that the
feeblest among them will be like David, and the house of
David will be like God, like the Angel of the
Lord going
before them.
On
that day I will set out to destroy all the nations that
attack Jerusalem. "And I will pour out on the house of
David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace
and supplication. They will look on me, the one they
have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns
for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one
grieves for a firstborn son.
On
that day the weeping in Jerusalem will be great, like
the weeping of Hadad Rimmon in the plain of Megiddo. The
land will mourn, each clan by itself, with their wives
by themselves: the clan of the house of David and their
wives, the clan of the house of Nathan and their wives,
the clan of the house of Levi and their wives, the clan
of Shimei and their wives, and all the rest of the
clans and their wives.
"On
that day a fountain will be opened to the house of David
and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, to cleanse them from
sin and impurity.
"On
that day, I will banish the names of the idols from the
land, and they will be remembered no more," declares the
Lord
Almighty. "I will remove both the prophets and the
spirit of impurity from the land.
Psalm 83
O
God, do not keep silent; be not quiet, O God, be not
still. See how your enemies are astir, how your foes
rear their heads. With cunning they conspire against
your people; they plot against those you
cherish. "Come," they say, "let us destroy them as a
nation, that the name of Israel be remembered no more."
With
one mind they plot together; they form an alliance
against you— the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, of
Moab and the Hagrites, Gebal, Ammon and Amalek,
Philistia, with the people of Tyre. Even Assyria has
joined them to lend strength to the descendants of Lot.
Do
to them as you did to Midian, as you did to Sisera and
Jabin at the river Kishon, who perished at Endor and
became like refuse on the ground. Make their nobles like
Oreb and Zeeb, all their princes like Zebah and
Zalmunna, 12 who said, "Let us take
possession of the pasture-lands of God."
Make
them like tumble-weed, O my God, like chaff before the
wind. As fire consumes the forest or a flame sets the
mountains ablaze, so pursue them with your tempest and
terrify them with your storm. Cover their faces with
shame so that men will seek your name, O Lord. May they
ever be ashamed and dismayed; may they perish in
disgrace.
Let
them know that you, whose name is the Lord— that you
alone are the Most High over all the earth.
OBADIAH (whole book)
This is what the Sovereign Lord says about Edom—
We have heard a message from the Lord: An envoy was sent
to the nations to say, "Rise, and let us go against her
for battle"—
"See, I will make you small among the nations; you will
be utterly despised. The pride of your heart has
deceived you, you who live in the clefts of the rocks
and make your home on the heights, you who say to
yourself, 'Who can bring me down to the ground?'
Though you soar like the eagle and make your nest among
the stars, from there I will bring you down," declares
the Lord. "If thieves came to you, if robbers in the
night— Oh, what a disaster awaits you— would they not
steal only as much as they wanted? If grape pickers came
to you, would they not leave a few grapes?
But
how Esau will be ransacked, his hidden treasures
pillaged! All your allies will force you to the border;
your friends will deceive and overpower you; those who
eat your bread will set a trap for you, but you will not
detect it.
"In
that day," declares the Lord, "will I not destroy the
wise men of Edom, men of understanding in the mountains
of Esau? Your warriors, O Teman, will be terrified, and
everyone in Esau's mountains will be cut down in the
slaughter.
Because of the violence against your brother Jacob, you
will be covered with shame; you will be destroyed for
ever. On the day you stood aloof while
strangers carried off his wealth and foreigners entered
his gates and cast lots for Jerusalem, you were like one
of them.
You
should not look down on your brother in the day of his
misfortune, nor rejoice over the people of Judah in the
day of their destruction, nor boast so much in the day
of their trouble.
You
should not march through the gates of my people in the
day of their disaster, nor look down on them in their
calamity in the day of their disaster, nor seize their
wealth in the day of their disaster.
You
should not wait at the crossroads to cut down their
fugitives, nor hand over their survivors in the day of
their trouble. “The day of the
Lord is
near for all nations. As you have done, it will be done
to you; your deeds will return upon your own head.
Just
as you drank on my holy hill, so all the nations will
drink continually; they will drink and drink and be as
if they had never been.
But
on Mount Zion will be deliverance; it will be holy, and
the house of Jacob will possess its inheritance. The
house of Jacob will be a fire and the house of Joseph a
flame; the house of Esau will be stubble, and they will
set it on fire and consume it. There will be no
survivors from the house of Esau." The Lord has spoken.
People from the Negev will occupy the mountains of Esau,
and people from the foothills will possess the land of
the Philistines. They will occupy the fields of Ephraim
and Samaria, and Benjamin will possess Gilead.
This
company of Israelite exiles who are in Canaan will
possess the land as far as Zarephath; the exiles from
Jerusalem who are in Sepharad will possess the towns of
the Negev. Deliverers will go up on Mount Zion to govern
the mountains of Esau. And the kingdom will be the
Lord's.
